Key Elements
As a not-for-profit organisation our goal is to create fantastic experiences steeped in nature and culture where the commercial benefit goes to the local community. Respect for local people, local knowledge, learning and appreciation are all key aspects of what we do. Surpluses generated go to sister foundations the Atlantic Whale & Dolphin Foundation and the Fair Earth Foundation and, through them, to local communities and conservation projects globally.

Our programmes are built around groups, from as few as four to as many as is wanted. Individuals can be accommodated at set dates throughout the year. As there are multiple options always available it is possible to build bespoke programmes.

Can be arranged as required. We have over 100 options, ranging from ‘shoestring’ through to ‘very nice’ to ‘luxury’, and in either ‘bright light’ locations or ‘rural idylls’.
Note: ‘rural’ includes beautiful places set in mountains to coastal havens where the sound of waves crashing on the seashore will help you sleep. |
If required, can be organised through CICAR with whom we have worked for decades.

Eating
Eating out is a delight with innumerable quality and idiosyncratic restaurants, cafes and bars. We are compiling our top one hundred but you could create your own top 100 equally charming with little overlap- if you had the time.
We can also organise Canarian evenings through which you can try out a range of typical Canarian dishes with explanation and a recipe book washed down with a great selection of Canarian wines and with Canarian singers in full traditional costume!; wine tastings at vineyards; picnic hampers etc |
Individuals
Options are available throughout the year on our low cost volunteering programme, check us out at whalenation.org
Alternatively, dates are available for individual participation on a number of our eco-tourism programmes, including; + Trekking + Whale Watching + Film & Photography |
Europe's Number 1 Winter Destination
The best time to travel to Tenerife depends very much on your requirements. It is Europe’s No1 winter destination with its all year round sunshine (Elysian fields) but outside of school holidays flights are very cheap- check out January through June outside of Easter and half term, and October- November for amazing bargains.
The weather is always pleasant although in the north of the island there can be a lot of rain and cloud on occasion. The south can get very hot in the summer especially during a calima, a sand storm from the Sahara desert. There are occasional tropical storms in the winter- very dramatic and pretty torrential- all adds to the ambience of the place.
